In November 2009 the Festival of Spirituality and Peace was awarded Investing in Volunteers status by Volunteer Development Scotland. Investing in Volunteers acknowledges organisations who work to the highest possible standards in their recruitment, support and management of volunteers.
The Festival of Spirituality and Peace is committed to its volunteers who represent the life-blood of the organisation. Thank you to everyone who has donated their time and energy to the Festival. We couldn't do it without you.
The Festival and its volunteers...
The Festival of Spirituality and Peace is a unique three week celebration of world faith, culture and politics. The Festival provides a platform for the kinds of conversations and dialogues which must take place if there is to be peace in our world.
Although dialogue and debate are at the very heart of FoSP, the Festival also provides a stage for dynamic performers from all over the world In the past we have hosted a range of performers from Zimbabwe (left), the USA, Japan, India, Tibet, Poland, Nicaragua, and Scotland. This year we will be extending our welcome to many other international performers. |
A Call to You
We are looking for motivated and engaged volunteers from all over Edinburgh and beyond to come and help us deliver Festival events and get involved in the debate and dialogue. The Festival of Spirituality and Peace is a celebration of our unity in diversity and we therefore encourage volunteers from all faiths, cultures, traditions, nationalities and backgrounds to get involved and help make this Festival one to remember.
If you have any additional support needs we will do everything we can to meet them and provide you with the support you need to get the most out of your time as a volunteer.
Getting to know you...
In the two weeks leading up to the start of the Fetival, we will be welcoming volunteers to come and meet festival staff, get to know the venue and spend time getting to know one another.
Our main volunteer induction will be taking place on Thursday 5th August at St John's Church, starting at 2pm. The afternoon will be spent getting to know one another, getting to know the building and learning about volunteer roles and responsibilities. There will be a dinner in the evening which will give us a chance to share food and relax together. Please do not worry if you have daytime commitments; volunteers are welcome to join the induction in the evening for the shared meal. A second induction day will be scheduled for all volunteers who were unable to make it along to any part of this main induction session.
