VOLUNTEER HERE

Your chance to get involved in the Festival of Spirituality  and Peace 2008

Last year's volunteers made the Festival of Spirituality and Peace 2007 totally unforgettable

This year, the Festival of Spirituality and Peace has invited volunteers from Ghana, Nigeria and Spain to help us deliver our Festival programme. We are now looking for a team of local volunteers to work alongside our vistors and make 2008 the best FoSP ever.

As well as helping deliver FoSP 2008, volunteers will be invited to participate in our International Youth Peace Programme; a series of Round Table discussions, events, trips and workshops all focussed on the themes of the Festival.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers will be asked to help set-up and deliver FoSP events, take tickets, engage with the public, contribute to the debate and dialogue, and inject enthusiasm and spirit into the Festival.

You can contribute as many or as few hours as you wish per week, and in return you will receive:

  •  free entry to all our events

  •  a chance to get involved in our International Youth Peace Programme

  • valuable experience in events organisation and management

  • the chance to meet new people and make new friends

Volunteering for the Festival of Spirituality and Peace provides a chance to learn about other cultures and traditions, explore fundemental issues of peace and justice, and work as part of a diverse and exciting team.

Volunteers from Ghana and Mozambique brought a truly international perspective to last year's Festival. This year, we hope to build on the links we have forged with other nations.

How do I get involved?

Simply fill in a Volunteer Application Form and send it back to us by the end of July 2008. We will then send you all the information you need and invite you to come and meet the team here at St John's Church, Princes Street. Application forms can be emailed to volunteer coordinator Tom Lea: tom@eifa.org.uk or filled out by hand and posted to: FoSP, St John's Church, Princes Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4BJ.

Volunteer Training - 2nd August 2008

Volunteer training will take place on Saturday 2nd of August at St John's Church, starting a 10am. Training will take between 3 and 4 hours and we will provide lunch. If you can't make it to the training day but are still very keen to be involved, contact us and we can work something out.

Our volunteers have in the past come from all over the world, including Slovakia, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Ghana, Mozambique and also locally. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and be a part of the peace-making process.
